Linux will never be “ready”, in a large part because it’s made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, and most of those people just don’t understand how an end user thinks.
I got annoyed when my new Windows machine immediately had to install a bunch of updates, which only required me to click next every fifteen minutes or so, and I had to uninstall Onedrive and disable the news feed on the lock screen.
I’d have taken it back if I had to spend that much time actually researching, I’ve got far better things to do with my time.
I’ve seen videos of those being used.
Although, even knowing what one is, I’d still assume you were talking about power tools.
It’s honestly not that bad, it’s not like you’re required to actually do anything while this is happening.
Yeah, and you can wander off and do something else in the meantime.
I’m pretty sure it’s less than 10, and I just recently set up a Windows machine.

How I want a windows install is “working, with no BS”.
It comes out the box working, all I needed to do was disable Onedrive on boot. I haven’t even bothered to change the background, and probably won’t.
There’s also a number of things you have to click “no” on, like a free trial office or Onedrive.
It took me around an hour to set up my new Win 11 laptop, most of which was downloading and installing updates. I expected far worse.
That used to happen at a friend’s house, the microwave would shut down their WiFi.
