Of course Buffett hopped off the ai train before it was cool.

Maybe we have different interpretations of good faith.
I’m not going to keep responding if someone devolves into utter nonsense, e.g., complaining that we aren’t making memes cautioning about NSFW communities.
No one is owed my time.
As your profile notes “I will assume good faith and intelligence until proven otherwise.” Anyone can just type nonsense, it doesn’t mean it deserves a reply.
Damn big .world and their pernicious anti .ml propaganda!
Come on.
Dude, your first point was conflating the post’s general upvote ratio with your comment ratio. Then finished with "why aren’t you meming about NSFW comms. That’s just a pair of objectively nonsensical points.
If you’re just going to spout silliness, why on Earth would I spend my time with you?
The vote ratio on my comments contradict the vote ratio on the post.
Come on, you’ve got to know that’s an absurd point.
You’re telling new users to avoid that community, which is probably stopping many.
And they are completely free to go to .ml . Do you not understand how censorship works?
If they don’t like .ml then they’ll find .world.
Or they decide that the fediverse is an unpleasant experience and leave. (Remember, to new people coming from most social media, instances etc are completely new. So when they deal with .ml craziness, the first reaction is probably not “that instance isn’t good” so much as “oh, this shitty reddit alternative has no content AND awful people? Reddit sucks but at least it ain’t this fediverse bs.”)
Y’all making memes about nsfw subs? No, you’re not.
Really? You don’t see how a commonly used and almost universal acronym like NSFW is different than a niche fediverse domain? That’s an actual comparison you thought was a good point?
This is getting pretty silly, you’ve decided that making fun of .ml is censorship regardless of reality, meaning or anything else, so I don’t really see any point in continuing.
Have a nice day though!
I don’t know or care about their preferences. Maybe they’d like .ml, who knows, Most people don’t like .ml, look at the vote ratio on the post.
So, for most new people, we expect they also won’t enjoy it. No one is stopping them, same way you aren’t stopping your friend, just warning them. If they want to go play there or it appeals, nothing stops them.
But, warning people does help cut down on the “ugh, is this the fediverse? I don’t like reddit but at least it’s not that!”
let them find out on their own.
No one is stopping them but it’s polite to give a warning, same as we do for nsfw subs.
A warning isn’t censorship…
But, let’s work through the logic if you really don’t get it.
Why would you warn your friend but not others in the MAGA convention example? (Maybe this is the key.)
You buy your memes instead of just making them while on the toilet? Wild.
But the larger point is that for a growing social network, yeah, warning newcomers about a group most find unpleasant (and given the upvote ratios on the post, the fediverse seems to agreed) seems a simple courtesy and helps us expand. Doing so in a jokey meme is just a fun way to do so.
? I think maybe you forgot what you wrote? Or are responding to the wrong thread?
Here’s what you wrote and what I responded to:
Well they don’t have a job so to them, starting weird fights about instances is their job.
So I’m just curious how you came to this bizzare conclusion.
Okay, so if your friend would be frustrated by fairly mainstream opinions, wouldn’t you warn them about that too? Or just better to have them sort it out for themselves?
Seems pretty simple…
Hmmm? Only the unemployed can make jokes? Are all commenters jobless too or only posters? Or everyone but you is jobless? I’m so curious how you came to this conclusion!
How much effort does thinking of a joke and posting it take you???
Probably good to warn people that .ml isn’t representative of the fediverse at large, they’re just very loud.
If you were introducing a new friend to America but for some reason, knew their flight was landing in a MAGA convention, would you not warn them so they didn’t immediately turn around and go home?
Huzzah, that was my hope!

Lock Stock and 2 Smoking barrels. Guy Ritchie’s first and arguably best movie.
If you haven’t seen it, well, I’d change that.
Ha, completely. I’d just figured that was a Ukraine war switch but I imagine you’re right.
