I don’t think so. There’s no good alternative to Facebook that is worth leaving it for. When MySpace died, there was a significantly better alternative (FB). Even if people quit using Facebook regularly, they’ll need to keep it.

Now that all big tech has turned away from democrats (probably as punishment for their antitrust lawsuits), we will see a much different perspective from the Trump administration.

I bought my son a computer for Christmas and put an i9 in it. Not a great graphics card, but it gets the job done. Bought him some games on steam that play great. He was playing a first person shooter on chrome today.

So, do all windows machines use this, or do you have to add this software?

Is there a good eli5 on what crowdstrike is, why it is so massively used, why it seems to be so heavily associated with Microsoft and what the hell happened?

Most people don’t install windows. It comes pre installed on something they bought. Microsoft probably puts more time into automating the process.

Also, last time I installed windows it was a breeze. I haven’t installed Linux in at least a decade, so I can’t speak for that.
