Obligatory damn clankers.
The demand is there, it’s just naive to think we are the target. We are not the ones that are going to consume it.
If the demand is for business use cases… its more so that yes the demand is there, or at least was, but the returns are not.
Every industry projection of productivity gains from implementing LLMs into their businesses was wildly, wildly overestimsating how much it would actually help any given business.
So its basically all a massive leveraged bet on the idea that LLMs will be able to usefully automate tasks that used to be done by people… but for the most part, it can’t.
And that’s partially because the capabilities of LLMs are absurdly overhyped, and partially because most businesses internal software set up is a clusterfuck nightmare of smashed together contractor modules and services that barely works, because management tells developers to just keep putting bandaids on things snd writing spaghetti code, never letting them do a proper refactor/restructure.
But we are the targets. They want regular consumers to use it daily so their stats go up and they have they get a moralic high ground. But their metrik are based on unrealistic thinking
Who need the power of those datacenters are all the big companies running more advanced analytics on us. Be prepared to see global dynamic pricing. Checking your cookies to increase price of flights and hotels because you’ve been looking at them for too long is the past, they are going to correlate all your digital footprint and your fingerprint history to define your identity regardless of IP and login and see if you just got promoted, are on high spirits, or on dire need of an item, and surge its prices everywhere because they are going to be selling this service to all platforms… and we better not even think about the services they are going to be selling to governments, what we have right now is scary enough.
