[my old post about ‘will hdr work’]
You guys motivated me enough to finally give it a go. I was sooooooo deep into windows, a third of the daily tools used were my own, i got every certificate possible from M$, i always defended them blahblahblah. So I expected a hard and long transition to Linux on my main-rig. Installed it (CachyOS) on another HDD to leave win for dual-boot, even made a VM out of it in case I were too lazy to boot win… And 3 months later, i have not booted it once and never needed the VM either.
99% of everything i needed works, my own tools were kinda already there or could be substituted. Every game works, HDR works, only one tool (MediaMonkey) gives me headaches but that’s it. Why have i waited that long.
My point? None. Just thanks for good advice :)
Welcome to the dark side. Where we can take screenshots from an HDR output without washed out colors (I was told, windows can’t do this o0)
Windows 11 can definitely do this. I do it all the time. (Screen recording video is a different conversation though…)
Thanks, than I am misinformed
Thanks 😁 I never managed that on win, but also didn’t on Linux either. Only game I tried is “where winds meet” and my ingame-shots look never like what I actually try to do 😁 Might be the game though, not tried using the native apps for that. But either way, can’t be worse than win 😊
*the light side
It’s HDR. It’s both.
And 3 months later, i have not booted it once
Oh man, I know the feeling. It took me 5 months to remember that I had a Windows partition.
It was so important to me, to have a way back (which is fair enough), and then I just completely forgot about it.
Yes lol. I was so adamant that i WILL need it more than once because “nothing will work and my patience runs thin”. Well. No :-)
Glad it went well! I enjoy tinkering on linux and making M$ (or apple) software run on it
Thanks :) I’d prefer native stuff, but as long as M$ (i wouldn’t touch crapple at all) won’t get a cent from me… Not that I ever actually bought a windows. Not even the server-versions. I only bought NT3.1 once, and that’s it :)
i count myself lucky that i wasn’t able to afford windows when i was younger because it forced me to learn linux.
and especially so today as government around the world are starting to impose id verification laws to use windows, mac, ios, android, and social media.
Indeed lucky :) Although I never paid a cent for M$ …
And yeah, totally with you there. The enshittification of everything just hurts :(
