    Don’t Blu-Ray players have shenanigans like not playing newer discs unless you get them online to download keys?

      Not to mention all the nasty DRM keeping users from watching on their phones or laptops.

      Yes some do have a lack of keys.

      Personally i just use makemkv to rip my blurays. Toss them in handbrake for a nice chrisp HEVC 20ish mbit final video and it goes on jellyfin.

        That’s good. I know there is key revocation, where they can make discs “expire” when the key lists get updated from the Internet or by playing a Blu-Ray with a newer list.
