This is amazing… Now I wish I had a 3D printer. Maybe I can find a friend to make the case parts for me.
Something very cool completely ruined by the fact that its tiny and would be terrible to read on.
The main point of the device is to be tiny so you can just have it in your pocket. Hopefully, encouraging you to read more by lowering the barrier to start.
Though I am sure this device is not meant for everyone.
I’d say a vast majority of the people that have to wear glasses for reading would absolutely hate this.
I feel like something like the xteink would be better suited to this class of device though
You know I saw that device before and was interested. I think one reason people might like this better is due to the hackability but it sounds like the xteink is fairly hackable too (and probably has better long term support).
Personally I am still trying to go back to physical books before I try another e-reader.

He is a Spanish genius.
Someting like that on a Keyboard as Key woukd be nice. So I could dynamically switch the Key description of the current keyboard settings.
I thought the point of an e Ink reader was to be pleasant to read on? Why the small screen, why the cramped text, why the hard to read font?
Those are all subjective. The point of the device is to be pocketable. While it looks small, the font looks totally fine and not cramped to my eyes.
That looks kinda like my project down to the same board. Crazy. Not sure why hes charging for it, its very simple to program. And heltek comes with a plastic casing to begin with.

It looks familiar butbwith an eink screen rather than the heltek screen that comes with it. Cool little device he made.
I get the error code: 400 Bad request.
That’s awesome. Guess I know what I’m doing this weekend then.
How to smuggle all three volumes of Das Kapital into prison with just thirty dollars, a condom, and some lube.
There’s three?
There were plans for many more. Only volume 1 was punlished while Marx was alive, the other two were compiled from notes and outlines by Engels.

TIL
Probably would just be drone dropped tbh
Am I misunderstanding, or is this not open source? Looks like you have to pay on ko-fi.
Free software is about freedom, not price. It’s perfectly acceptable to sell it. It being a paid download doesn’t necessarily mean it’s proprietary. He’s not required to actually post the source online for all to access, he can send it only to paying customers. As long as the customer receives it under a free software license it is free software.
However, without mention of a free software license, I am inclined to believe it is proprietary - although it is described as open source on the page, he might mean to say source available.
I’m going to be honest, I selfishly want to bait one of you to fall in love with the concept and make an open source version.
I believe in you all.
How close do you want it to be?
I’m a big fan of the OpenBook
Open book is awesome.
