Cases where officers were issuing completely impossible or contradictory commands, “suspects” being told to “stop resisting” and being beaten to death when other angles show them not resisting at all. The list goes on and on. “Complying” is not a good way to keep from being brutalized or killed, you’re always just rolling the dice of whether or not you’re dealing with a psychopath or not.
Yeah for the person in the moment the best course of action is whatever is going to make survival most likely. I’m more saying it for people who think that complying is some magic spell that will stop police from just killing you if they feel like it.

just because it doesn’t always work doesn’t mean it’s a best practice when dealing with police. dealing with ICE is a different scenario.
