The only “haunted” place I have had the chance to repeatedly observe, the second floor warehouse of a car parts company, matches this hypothesis quite nicely. The floor is plywood on metal beams, and picks up street vibrations occasionally. This has never bothered me, but one person who works there says the place is haunted. :)
