    some of the comments by residents are spot on, hell I never even thought about this particular issue:

    “These companies have deep pockets,” another speaker said. “If there’s litigation, you think La Pine can go against one of these data center companies in court? Do you have that kind of resources that you could fight a long legal battle if it goes south?”

    and a good point about water usage:

    We didn’t have a winter this year. Where are we going to get water just magically evaporating to feed this behemoth of a thing?

      To go along with that first quote, these data centers are owned by LLCs spun up just to remove liability from the real companies that own them, so even if La Pine or any other small city could win a legal battle against them, they’d just fold up the LLC, send all the equity and profit to the parent company, and leave the city holding the bag.
