I also remember a news report of the Indigenous people saying that if Quebec tried to keep the Indigenous lands in the northern regions, they would blow up the power lines to the James Bay project.
Separation would mean civil war, which would mean a perfect excuse for the US military to step in “temporarily” to “protect Canada”. In other words, divide and conquer.
