Not well. Had some family hurdles crop up so the focus has been elsewhere. The scale of work is also reaching a fever pitch so I mostly just push that through instead of learning German.
I have noticed my ear is getting better. I’m more able to pick out words when people are talking and if they slow down a bit I’m usually able to track many pieces of conversations.
My tracking on train announcements is getting downright routine. Unless the speaker is really busted I can usually get it now. Too much time in train stations, I guess.
German Discussion class starts Tuesday.
I’ve bought a few more German songs (mostly covers to anime songs I’ve appreciated over the years). I probably should start looking for traditional / mainstream German pop / rock bands however, to get more “normal” music that typical Germans listen to.
Felt very defeated thinking about restarting doing an hour each, then remembered that’s actually the wrong way to think about it. Aim for 5 mins over 60 and just rebuild time again. Doing much better now since that. Not fully back on the horse. And there’s a heatwave going to happen to us sometime in the next few days so hopefully I can push through then unlike last time.
Doing JP, SP and maths. Irish is nice, but I still feel like I need to flesh out better tooling for that. Atm, it’s very difficult starting in Irish without going a full 30-60 minutes. So once I’m back at a better pace I’ll try again then.
Also to add: I’m drawing and reading a lot now, so time isn’t completely wasted.
I’ve been getting back into reading more (in English) lately too. Right now I’m reading a book by a Japanese author, and it keeps reminding me how much I want to be able to read novels in Japanese!
Try to stay cool out there!
