Funny because I don’t have a clue about what’s supposed to be going on with a pool. And I probably don’t want to either, so please don’t tell me about it I guess.

The media isn’t for being informed, it’s for entertainment, that quick shot of rage bait and then off to the new thing to be enraged by. Doubly so when someone rich and powerful is heavily encouraging a change of topic.

Exactly, but also consider the market as the media sees it. A lot of folks are much more comfortable with discussing a reflecting pool or the east wing of the white house simply because the stakes are lower than the economy, war, and child rape.

Family friendly ragebait gets wider audiences. Easy dollar.

To be clear, Trump’s pool boy on the reflecting pond James Carafo, is a POS, mega-donor to trump, and plead guilty for bribery. We should be looking into him, not talking about the algae. This was corruption 101

John J. “J.J.” Cafaro is an American businessman and convicted felon best known for his business ventures in Northeast Ohio and his controversial political involvement with U.S. president Donald Trump. **He pleaded guilty to bribing U.S. Representative James Traficant in 2001. **

I don’t really get why it’s eating up the public attention. If you’ve ever had a pool or tank, you know algae is a pain to deal with, and it’s a nothingburger compared to everything else happening - yet the memes flow.

It’s like the modern ‘tan suit moment’.

it’s not eating up attention, it’s being focused on to avoid topics people actually care about. unless people march in the streets, nothing is happening.

Yes, he’s very good at directing attention. The media is happy to follow along because it’s great engagement bait. Can we try talking about the important things more than petty bullshit, or are we just going to let ourselves be misdirected forever?

I don’t really get why it’s eating up the public attention.

      A number of reasons.

Trump screaming about it on social media is the big one.

National news just being “Hey, what’s on Twitter? Let’s talk about that. (Unless it’s the Gaza Genocide written from the perspective of its victims)” on a loop every day.

Surprisingly high profile people getting arrested for just curiously poking at the bad work.

It’s a really easy way to see the corruption and incompetence in a way that a lot of people can relate to.

A lot of people know how to tend a pool, and those people know that individuals dumping in gallon jugs of hydrogen peroxide ain’t gonna do it.

And it’s not like Iran, or really Epstein has been out of any news that I’ve been paying attention to.

I guess the Democratic Socialists of America are stealing some attention. Hope that’s okay with you.

Easy. You say “unreleased tranches of Epstein’s documents and videos remain classified despite the Law. What could be inside?”

Then you put the affidavit accusing him of raping and threatening to murder a 12 year old by implying he’s already murdered another 12 year old he raped along with her whole family.

Then you have a former FBI agent explain how far a case has to progress before these things are even collected.

Then you send investigative journalists to look into the mysterious deaths and disappearances of dozens of these women and interview any law enforcement or legal council willing to discuss it.

      Or hey I guess aglae.

This was kinda how it was always gonna go, from my perspective. Trump should’ve got got before Epstein shenanigans even came into play. He didn’t. So he can’t. The rich and powerful are near-bulletproof. But only colloquially speaking. Literally, on the other hand…

The other things are important but the reflecting pool is one of the few things that can be properly summarized by memes and so people talk about it more becoming a poplar topic and the easy nature makes it great for filler new segments
