Well they dropped the full set (base + expansions) from $20+ to ~$5.
I played a lot of the original BoI release, but eventually got burnt out on roguelikes and never felt compelled to pay a premium when it was redesigned on a new engine for Rebirth. But at $5, sure, why not. Good Steam Deck title.
I’ve heard a bunch of people talking about this game over the years, but have never played it. So, inspired by the comments in here I just took to Steam and bought the whole lot for a whopping £3.70.
I saw it on sale and also recalled it being heavily recommended and spoken about. But it’s a fucked up fever dream so I pass
Love the game.
Hate how it used to work flawlessly in linux, plug and play, even had native versions. And since repentance we have to use proton and do some fixings because controller related bugs that years and tons of updates afters they seem unable to solve.
I saw this and decided to grab it. I haven’t played it since the original game came out!
I have to say, I enjoyed the humor a lot more as a teenager. It doesn’t ruin the game or anything, but it’s very young Reddit humor, which didn’t age great for me. It’s fine though. The game is still fun.
This is the reason I returned it a couple years ago. Hard pass on the humor. Was worse when I saw how old the guy who made it was. Just felt cringe.
I never clocked the game as trying to be humorous. Gross and shocking sure but the story itself is pretty sad.
It’s definitely supposed to be humorous too, but a kind of gross out humor. It’s the same with his new game, Mewgenics. Just the name alone tells you it’s supposed to be humorous, but also repulsive.
