I enjoyed it quite a bit. At nearly 3hrs runtime, I went in thinking “as long as I don’t hit a point where I’m wondering how much time is left, I’ll be satisfied with this movie.” I was pretty gripped the entire time. Never once felt like it was dragging.
Too loud. Walked out after ten minutes and got a refund.
Trying again at a different theater soon.
I’ll be curious to know if it was just your theater or it the film is just “too loud”. Nolan makes great films, but this isn’t the first case of the audio being terrible.
I saw it at a nice theater who by all accounts knows how to set up films properly (and has in the past). However I definitely felt like the dialogue was difficult to hear (since other louder sounds were playing) especially at the start.
Yeah, this is a result of no one at the theater knowing how to properly set the levels. It’s not always automatic and it doesn’t surprise me given the state of movie theaters.
Yeah, it was miserable. It was actually a painful experience. I had to plug my ears with my fingers for parts of it.
I bring earplugs to half price Wednesday movies every time. Best decision I ever made when returning to the cinema. 28 Bones Later was so loud. When did it all get so darn loud?

I really enjoyed it. Probably will need a second viewing soon though maybe wait to watch it at home. I don’t have a 70MM IMAX nearby or an Alamo Drafthouse unfortunately.
