Idk how anyone who is a parent would believe sending their kid to a giant experiment would be the best thing for them. Then take into consideration this costs 40k and I can’t think of anyone who is paying that much for higher education would ever think this is the best option available for the price. I hope it fails as hard as I see it fail in my head.
Also the comments about how they won’t pay teachers like they pay AI is an understatement. AI took over so fast and shoved in peoples faces that a lot of people are just realizing your not saving any money by replacing people since the AI as a whole cost more than all the individuals you let go! Its like they missed the memo that it needs to be cheaper for most companies to try it but instead it cost a fortune to do worse work and hold no accountability if something does go wrong.
AI marketing and propaganda is more dense than the skulls of the people soaking it up. I wouldn’t be too surprised.
So they want ever single student to pay an entry-level teacher’s full salary to then not pay a single teacher… and even then only get 2 hours of AI driven “education” in 4 subjects per day. And then a, what, 4-6 hour daily lab doing “projects” and “entrepreneurship workshops” whatever that means, broken up by a lunch break?
Sounds like they are trying to make more stupid capitalists with the 5 students that actually succeed with this model and leave the rest of the failures as stupid Republican voters that envy the capitalists.
No in Oklahoma with kind of money is sending their kids there. This fucking stupid. 40k that more than average Oklahoman makes. This got to be a scam. And I live here and heard nothing about it.
Oklahoma is 48th in educational quality. I’m sure this will drag them out of that pit.

Hey, remember school during COVID? When most kids wouldn’t even bother turning their cameras on for remote learning? That worked out real well. What these dickheads are trying to push ignores the social aspect of learning. Sure, some people can learn in isolation, but many/most of us benefit from being around others. Processing information involves synthesizing your own thoughts, but also analyzing the thoughts and behaviors of others around you. And this doesn’t even consider the motivation that a good teacher can provide and how it can build self esteem and self efficacy. The content, while not insignificant, is a vehicle to help people learn how to think, and not just acquisition of facts.
At one Alpha workshop in San Francisco, the school sent middle school students to a Starbucks with preloaded cards, Wendy Vassiliou, whose son will start at the Tulsa location come August, said. Unbeknownst to the students, their guide had zeroed the account balance for at least one student, meaning their card was rejected at the checkout. The lesson aimed to teach students how to handle disappointment.
This is just cruel. Life is full of disappointments anyway; there’s no need to create more by tricking kids.
Alpha warns applicants that the school isn’t equipped to meet the needs of students requiring intensive behavioral, therapeutic, or one-to-one academic support. Applicants are asked to disclose any Individualized Education Program, 504 plan, or behavior or learning plan or risk being withdrawn.
Apparently “withdrawn” is the new word for “discriminated against”. Will this prevent them from receiving public funds?
Fortunately, kids who need specialized help will be taught by actual humans.
I had a “career” class in highschool where they setup a mock budgeting exercise in the library, and we were supposed to visit the grocery store, pay bills, invest, etc.
Instead of using our chosen career like every other class exercise, for this one you were just given a card with your life details on it and you had to work with that. I literally took one look at my card and said to myself “this isn’t going to work.” I was a single parent of 3 kids and my income was something like 2k/month. I knew I wouldn’t have enough money to even make it through the entire exercise so I asked my teacher, who created the cards, what I should do. She just pointed me toward the first expense and said “go do that, then do that” like re-explaining the sequence I was supposed to follow without acknowledging that I was going to run out of money in just a few minutes, so that’s what I did.
I did like 1/4 of the exercise, ran completely out of money, and then stood around for the rest of class while other students decided what they were going to do with their leftover funds. For whatever reason, at the end of the exercise, the teacher asked who ended up with this or that card, and when I pointed out what I’d gotten she was like “yeah that was the worst one” and that was all that was said about it.
I guess it actually was a pretty good lesson on how America deals with poverty.

Or, according to what I assume is Oklahoma’s end goal, just… not.
They will be taught in the prison system.
There are a sizable chunk of places where residents won’t pay $40K for a teacher per year for the entire class much less per student.
Spending that much to program their kids with some bullshit version of reality while minimizing their human connections and teaching them adults can’t be relied on. Sounds like a mass child abuse case that should happen here.
But when a child becomes a school shooter because they weren’t socialized properly, the robot teachers go into Terminator mode and protect the other students.
Student: “Wait, didn’t the South win the Civil War?”
AI: “You’re right! I’m so sorry for making that mistake. The South pretended to lose the war so that the North paid for reconstruction and provided much-needed capital. Looking around at how people are treated by the current government should have alerted me to the fact that the policies of the South are still heavily favored in today’s politics. I’ll try to do better!”
Just so we’re clear, that’s roughly the starting pay for teachers in this state…
Best part is no raises, no pension or healthcare so there is a bright side for them I guess? State soon to be 50th in education. Bet the school has a football team though
