Well, ten years later people live in those buildings now. They were planned housing built around high speed rail hubs so you can walk there and go to either beijing or shenzhen in like 2 hours. There’s a reason china is literally like the only place in the world where housing is affordable and the cost has gone down.
It literally happened right in front of your eyes but you believe it’s just impossible here. There’s even western dipshits crying about how this would affect the housing market- which is the real reason it WON’T happen here, not that it CAN’T. All the fucking landlords who’d get their lunch eaten if they had to compete with at-cost government rents and weren’t able to just charge whatever the fuck they want and increase rent every single year for no reason other than go fuck yourself

Citizens can apply for housing similar to applying for an apartment, just publicly run and funded rather than for profit. Social housing already exists.
