“We actually wrote a sequel to Dungeons and Dragons. We were hired to write it. I don’t know that it will see the light of day for a number of financial reasons. They’re expensive movies to make, but it’d be great fun to do it. We love that cast, and we think we wrote something that fans would like.”

The rest of article is a bunch of fluff around this quote.

That seems to have become the new norm in entertainment journalism. They have one to four sentences of actual information (or in the case of release dates just „we still don’t know“), then add multiple pages of filler at the top so people get served as many ad impressions as possible. For good measure, add a fake comment section or recommendations at the bottom so people can’t just scroll down to the end of the page to find what they are looking for.

Much as the tech is hated here, one could create an automated defluffed entertainment news website using LLMs to do the defluffing.

Of course that doesn’t guarantee that the actual information in the articles is factual in the first place

Would it work? Llm writes like those articles that just add fluff, it has the same tone by default. Like the cringey humor.

I feel like it’s the norm period. It’s like everyone has to pad to reach a minimum word count or vamp to hit 12 minutes on a non-short video.

I was considering starting a crowdsourced feed where people could follow a topic by just reading what’s new or different tacked on so one could scroll if missing context. With links to the OG source so the integrity could be maintained.

Then realized it would be like a wikipedia for news.

I’ve seen so many 10 minute YouTube videos that do that. One bit of news is padded to get that ad revenue.
