Am I wrong to empathize at least a little? Ive had crash outs that were pretty bad. I’ve never ddos’d someone but ive definitely done 2000s forum “psycho ex girlfriend” story post levels of crazy before. In your moment of rejection, nobody else matters, you devalue everyone just for that very small satisfaction of revenge.

Yeah but the starting point was literally him violating half the fediverse and then losing his shit when he got caught so…

Throwing a pitty party isn’t doing them any favours either.

IMO, most people have a personal choice to make when their lies and BS have been publicly exposed: you either “put your big boy pants on” and start dealing with your inner shadow. Or you double down on your BS and slide even further down the rabbit hole of endless human BS, losing yourself in the process.

You can try to save monsters. But you can’t be surprised when they bite you.

Reminds of when I got dumped, and went out with an air rifle and shot a couple birds (would have been 3, but I missed with the last slug I found). Utterly out of character. I wonder (and doubt) if they (at least yet) likewise feel greatest remorse for their weakest moment [of “hurt people hurt people”].

… And reminds of [in Babylon5] when Lennier had a moment of fail, out of character, ran from saving Sheradin, … and How D’lenn handled it, sympathetic to how we are each susceptible to such moments of fail and we let our worst overtake our better.

Still… another’s capacity for such wise sympathy (or empathy), is no excuse for them.

[Edit: … After being reminded of the specific situation this time though… I strongly doubt that’s even their weakest moment of hurting people; strongly doubt that’s a mere case of a rare moment of letting their worst get the better of their better… given what was initially done (and in which direction!!!). Wardrobe not big enough for all those skeletons [that I imagine, I hope, merely metaphorically].]

Very well put, even if the babylon5 reference went over my head. Now I know what to watch on my day off!

And yeah, I don’t agree with any of the choices here, just, this feels like the Internet drama of the old net, and has a very genuine feeling to it, if that makes sense?

I’ve met people like this, I genuinely do think they were trying to #savelemmy and carve out a little space of their own. Through somewhat malicious ends admittedly, but I know they saw their initial actions as righteous. (Which, I disagree with heavily ofc)

I wonder what they are feeling right now? I highly doubt this is that last act, I think some kind of half apology is going to make its way out.

          Quick side note regarding:

Now I know what to watch on my day off!

Don’t judge it by season 1, when it was still finding its feet. It’s worthy, past whatever scruffy shabbiness of early season 1.

… fairly obviously not. LOL. Key piece of evidence, I’m still alive.
