Just to be safe, that part is white, and that area doesn’t usually get scratched.
Honestly go get it checked out by a professional, at least to me it looks concerning enough to get it checked out.
Even though vets are expensive it will get you peace of mind.
See a vet, get their opinion. However, I will say we had a cat who developed some hair loss in a few places here and there. One of the vets insisted it was probably fleas, recommended treatment and all that. We knew we didn’t have a flea problem. The hair eventually came back. We’re pretty sure some dynamics in the house going on were causing them to be nervous and either scratch (hives?) or just lose hair as a reaction. And that kind of thing is hard to diagnose from just a single vet visit.
But see a vet, maybe it’s some skin condition or something else they can see the cause of. Perhaps diet change? Allergy to something new, or got into something? Lots of causes.
There can be multiple causes for this and one of them can be ringworm. I would get this checked by a vet because you do not want ringworm to spread.

I’ve had these on some of my cats when they are a little stressed or off. I think it’s a fungus (Ringworm? or is that still a different thing?) and the immune system usually keeps it at bay, and it can appear when the cat is unhappy or overwhelmed with something. Were there recent changes for your cat that they might not have liked?

Are you sure your cat is not scratching there? Mine has itchy ears and sometimes she will scratch vigorously and remove some hair

Maybe if you post a pic we can provide with more info. A vet visit never hurts, but it may be something harmless and you can save the cat some stress from the vet
