We now have 2 schisms from ex Arkane devs:

  • WolfEye Studios (Julien Roby & Raphael Colantonio), which already published Weird West
  • Black Pony Immersive (Harvey Smith, Ricardo Bare, & Ben Horne), just announced in this post link

Lol took a moment to parse that the “Dishonored” in the headline was talking about the game, not a reference to some scandal.

I wish them all a lot of luck. Immersive Sims are one of my favorite genres. So much fun talking with other players and realizing “you can do WHAT?”

Weird West was kind of charming to be honest. It didn’t fully get there compared to the heights of Dishonored, but I had a good time with it.

Can’t wait to see what they all will be doing in the future! Through the Looking Glass and everything that followed was always a treat to play (although some early control schemes were pretty hard to work with, but these were the days where people were still experimenting with what works and what not) when they weren’t forced to do shit they didn’t have a heart for (see Redfall, and even there you can see that they tried, but simply weren’t the team for that), and i can only hope that they will spread their love for these types of games to some new junior devs too, to make sure we will always have a few studios producing quality games.

It’s a good time for that too - nowadays the type of game isn’t such an immense factor for popularity anymore (not even if the game has multiplayer, see Witchfire for example), instead it matters a lot more if your game was made with love, experience and a focus on quality - these things are what actually driving sales nowadays, especially if you have a team with members that have already made a name for themselves.
