Point of order - russia has lost the war. They’re in freefall. As a vassal state of China’s, they’ve already gone so far into debt they’ll never get out in anyone here’s lifetime.
Why not end it? Save whatever money and resources they have to serve China without getting more blowed up? Plus it would infuriate the demented rapist, so - win-win!

Ending it would not save face for Putin.
There must still be more money in their coffers. Maybe they are waiting for Russia to be weak enough to take back Siberia.
