    I’ve been feeling more lazy with studying. I don’t think I’m making up for it with immersion but I still make sure to watch and listen to German every day.

    But otherwise I’m taking a mental break right now. Or at least, focusing on stuff at work. I do think that deep studying interferes with my mental state work (and vice versa).

    I do expect to come back to studying ASAP, once my current sprint is complete.

    Had a great week of study, the problem is the great part was performance and not time investment. Another month is about to tick off the calendar and I’m still behind on my pace for the JLPT.

    Because good performance cross-cut across all three parts of the exam (12 out of 13 on grammar exercises, 4 out of 4 on listening passages, 2 out of 2 on reading passages), this was the first week I can honestly say I actually feel confident about my ability to pass the exam once I cover all the topics. The problem is I’m just not putting in enough reps to hit all the topics and build the test-taking speed I’ll need.

    I don’t really have a solution for this as my time demands are not going to decrease by December. If anything, they’ll get worse. The plan right now is to just do my best.

    Ho boy. It’s been a few weeks since I caught one of these posts.

    Classes are on hiatus, so the formal learning is decaying. I’m supposed to start B2.1 this fall. It’ll be quite a ride.

    My reading is still improving. The vocabulary for core words is getting smoother so I can keep up with more sentences on things like readerboards.

    My listening is actually improving more than I expected. I was listening to a student describe their engineering project and got about 90% of the description from the German. I’m more often able to pick up short sentences now, where a few months ago they were just a series of noises and no distinct words.

    I’m up to book 9 of Dragonball. The translation from German continues. Of course, we’re entering the era where it’s mostly just powering up during fights, but there’s still the fun insults to learn. Vegeta is still the best for those.

    Speaking. Oh, the speaking. Small stubs of sentences come, but the flow isn’t there yet.

    I’m down to about 258 days until I can apply for a permanent residency… assuming I have the requisite language certificate by then.

    Lacking motivation for Korean, lacking motivation to start with Latin again. Maybe I should try some Slavic language, anyone got recommendations?
