I miss when tech was exciting and innovative. Now it’s just sad and pathetic.
I just watched the LTT video about DLSS 5, and the main thought I had was “never mind making questionable changes to these already very high fidelity games; what would happen if you tried to apply it to some old game, like Morrowind or Half-Life?” (In other words, some game that both (a) actually needs graphics improvements, and (b) runs at so high a framerate that you can afford to cut it in half.)
I saw a Roblox with DLSS 5 last night and I honestly don’t know if they were taking the piss, but it was hilarious to watch. Ultra realistic jank. Reminded me of those ultra realistic portraits of cartoon characters they used to do before AI.
Surely some irony in wee guys living in computer generated hallucinations upset about how sexy they can find their new wAifu’s.
