A political analysis of the founders and leadership behind every product you use must be an exhausting way to live your life.
Unless you propose to gather all those somewhere and “deal with them”, the far-right people are still people. And if they’re not breaking the law, they should enjoy all possible social activities and the fruits of their labor etc. Basically whatever every living human would want and be deserving of.
Your asking is unreasonable. And we all know that if the far-right people are excluded, they’ll just make a “better” Linux community elsewhere. Then the whining will be about them not letting any of the extremists far-left fury Marxists on it ever again.
Also, this hyperbolic inflation of ad hominem “fascist” labeling just makes the word lose its meaning, and makes people lose their respect/belief in what you’re saying. If you want to have a rational discussion using critical thinking, attack the argument not the person. Define words before using them. Tell us what “fascist” means to you, and why you think it applies in this context. Then listen to what people say and try to understand their perspective before writing them off as some kind of lost cause.
If instead you’re not interested in a debate, you’ve already made up your mind and believe there can be no other valid perspectives, well, then maybe you weren’t looking for truth OR intelligence in the first place. As a rule, strong feelings about issues do not emerge from deep understanding.
m. Tell us what “fascist” means to you, and why you think it applies in this context.
DHH—creator of Ruby on Rails, CTO at 37signals, and Shopify board member—has published white-nationalist essays. He called a Tommy Robinson “remigration” march “heartwarming,”[1][2][3][46] and wrote another comparing Roma people to wolves to be shot and deported.[4][5] Anthropic’s own model refused to translate it, calling it dehumanizing.[6]
wrote another comparing Roma people to wolves to be shot and deported
a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti)** that exalts nation and often race above the individual**, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by** forcible suppression of opposition**
From DHH’s blog:
Because as the number of wolves has been rising sharply every year since 2021, so too has the number of dead sheep. In 2021, it was 78, then in the years that followed, it was 162, 336, 521, and last year, it was 1,285! But the official line is still that shooting a wolf without a special permit is strictly prohibited because they’re an endangered species, so maybe sheep herders could just try some more fences?
You don’t have to be a statistician to see the problem here. When you have a surging wolf population, you’ll have the rate of dead sheep following suit. If the only answer to the situation is “maybe try some more fences?”, you’re going to get more of what you already have: an out-of-control population that’s an increasing risk to sheep, livestock, and potentially humans too.
This is the most basic consequence of inaction in the face of a growing threat: the problem just gets worse.
Cue the gypsies in Copenhagen, and their increasingly brazen behavior, after the city legalized overnight sleeping in parks and other green areas last year. Because “it shouldn’t be illegal to be homeless”, so the police refuses to act.
This has predictably led to these foreign vagrants setting up camp in the green areas around some of the city’s metro stations to the great dismay of neighbors. The vagrants are literally shitting in the bushes, which obviously stinks, and the area isn’t made any more inviting by the open-fire cooking that’s also going on.
Please tell me what the charitable interpretation of this is, and how it is not leaning towards “remove the foreign animals by force before they destroy our beautiful white culture”
EDIT: Let me not forget the best bit:
Standing idly by while your livestock is devoured by predators or your neighborhood is taken over by migrants is a pathetic abdication of any functioning society’s most basic duty to its citizens.
When wolves get out of control, you shoot them. When gypsies take over public spaces, you deport them. This isn’t hard, it isn’t cruel. It’s the basic logic of self-preservation.
He did not call for them to be shot, he expressed that he would like to deport homeless vagrants who were not Danish citizens. If vagrancy is a crime, then deporting a criminal is not a controversial stance. It is, in fact, standard operating procedure for any nation-state in the world that can afford to do so.
fascism
n 1: a political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical
government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism)
Please point to where they are advocating for an authoritarian government.
Hint: It’s not in the posts “As I remember London” or “Wolves, sheep, and gypsies”.
That doesn’t sound fair does it? That’s exactly what people are doing by making these claims without critical thinking and having their minds already made up.
And we all know that if the far-right people are excluded, they’ll just make a better Linux community elsewhere.
Lol, no they won’t.
They are people, and they do have every right to live there lives, but not consequence free. Racists, bigots, etc all deserve the hate they get. By using products they create and profit from, the user is helping fund that person’s beliefs and actions. I for one gladly will not use their products. The little bit of extra work keeping mental tabs on those products or companies and doing my best to avoid them is far better than supporting them in any way. I don’t always avoid them and in some cases it’s not feasibly possible, but I can try.
Like I said, I try to avoid things when it’s feasible. Cutting electronica out isn’t feasible.
Here are the core principles of fascism. Republicans check all of the boxes. That’s why we call them fascists. It’s not just a knee jerk title to draw shock it’s a fitting title based on their actions. Feel free to try and dispute any of that.
Core Characteristics of Fascism.
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Regimes constantly use patriotic mottos, symbols, and songs, whipping up fear of external threats to unify the populace.
Disdain for Human Rights: Basic civil liberties are ignored or suspended under the guise of national security and public safety.
Scapegoating and Identifying Enemies: Popular discontent is redirected toward a common enemy—often minority groups, immigrants, or political dissidents—blamed for the nation’s problems.
Supremacy of the Military: A disproportionate amount of national resources goes toward military funding and glorifying armed forces, viewing peace as weakness.
Controlled Mass Media: Independent news outlets are either directly censored, state-run, or intimidated into compliance through propaganda.
Obsession with National Security: Fear is utilized as a primary motivational tool by the government to keep citizens hyper-vigilant and compliant.
Intertwining Religion and Government: Ruling parties frequently leverage dominant religious identities to shape public policy and project moral superiority.
Protection of Corporate Power: While populist rhetoric targets the “everyman,” actual economic policy typically preserves and collaborates with wealthy corporate monopolies.
Suppression of Labor Power: Independent labor unions are outlawed or heavily restricted because they threaten state and corporate synchronization.
Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts: Free expression, academia, and critical thought are viewed with intense suspicion and suppressed if they challenge state narratives.
Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Police powers are expanded, and local laws are enforced with extreme, unchecked authority.
Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Friends and loyal associates of the regime are appointed to powerful positions, looting state resources without legal consequence.
Fraudulent Elections: Democratic processes are manipulated, rigged, or completely abolished to maintain the ruling party’s absolute grip on power.

I still don’t see a definition of fascist, only baseless accusations with the worst possible interpretations of their posts.

If you think “follow the law” is the part of his argument that I take issue with, you are being purposefully obtuse.
Holy fuck lol
What’s the correct interpretation, then? Say it already, coward!

“No one has provided me with a definition of fascism! I’ll provide my own!”
[removes everything from the definition except advocacy of authoritarian governments]
“See guys! YOU where wrong!”
Even with the stripped out version of the definition, that still clearly defines the current Republican regime. It’s a self own if I’ve ever seen one.

Every battery and piece of electronics on planet Earth is made from raw materials sourced from child and forced labor all over the world.
Nobody has any room to even attempt to argue that lamenting the loss of your cultural identity is somehow fascist.
