they are skippable but there is so much story going on there is no point in skipping them because you get confused very fast and it gets annoying. MGSV was such a breath of fresh air in that regard.
That’s fair. If mgs4 came out today I would feel the exact same way. But I came across it at the exact right time in my life for Kojima’s style of overwrought exposition.

funny that you say that - i’ve played MGS4 all the way back and it was the shit because i was just starting at the university and we studied a lot of stuff that MGS2 and 4 tackled and much of what Kojima showed in those games was very clean readings of Marcuse, Adorno, Baudrillard, Foucault and you can literally illustrate Derrida’s and De Man’s deconstruction with it. And now that MGS4 is finally available on PC and i booted up again - words can’t describe how over i was the never ending stream of cutscenes but i still can’t bring myself up to skip any of them.
