I only activevely use 10 max of my 400 tabs. But I haven’t fully given up on reading them. But the active tabs are shifting. I mostly open in a new tab, that includes lemmy
I started using Firefox Focus on mobile and Mullvad Browser on laptop which has largely fixed the problem for me lol. Instead of just leaving tabs open I bookmark them otherwise if my browser ever closes I would lose the tab. Then since everything was bookmarked I could at least be more organized into subfolders.
I wish I was the kind of person where 18 tabs was a lot.
Are you actively using all the tabs or are they old forgotten tabs while you only actively use one or two?
Not who you’re replying to, but I’m a tab forgetter and a tab user.
I try to clear my tabs daily, but regularly end up with 40-60 or so in a day at work. Plus tabs for PDFs, probably 10-15.
I’ll click back to about 50% of the tabs I open at least once. But if I go weeks without clearing my tabs, it is definitely diminishing returns.
PDFs I generally do reference back. I close my PDF program when I finish a few projects and get frustrated I can’t find my new one.

Get into a habit of using your favorites bar and making folders. Then when your ready nuke your tabs.
