I just have a hard time imagining a basically unpolitical person embracing a plant-based diet. IDK how this works in Brazil, but generally rightwingers don’t tend to be subtle about embracing meat-eating and rejecting veganism. How do you even get the idea that meat-eating is bad without coming into contact with any political discourse? Obviously some people are going to arrive at that idea on their own, I just assumed that it would be a lot fewer than this study indicates.

For me it was probably the hundredth time eating meat (specifically a frozen meat lasagna) and thinking about how the ground beef was probably hundreds of abused, miserable cows with very little joy in life. Finally something clicked and with hardly any effort at all, I became vegetarian for week and after that full-on vegan.
Before that moment I’d worked in fast food and generally didn’t think much about what I ate. There wasn’t some vegan person in my life introducing me to the concept nor did any political figure tell me about it. I literally just thought about it for a few moments and arrived to the conclusion “that’s fucked up.”
Frankly it’s really difficult to listen to people complain how it’s all so difficult and it requires some level of instruction — if you just stop eating animal products you’ll easily adapt — it just sounds like excuses to me.

Hopefully you probably know You can find “vegan restaurants” easily online : happycow…
Imo Being Vegan is ok nowadays because we have international food and especially Supplements… If not or if you want to grow your whole-year diet in your garden, you will also get malnutrition. The best example is Africa… Regards.

Are you sure that this applies to every place that people live in? Especially considering that this study was made in Brazil, not the US or some super urbanized european country.
@rumschlumpel
Yes it Does. Of Course, you Won’t Find the Same Numbers of Vegan Places than in the US but it’s WorldWide yes. You don’t Need HappyCow Everywhere especially if the Country has Already a Veganic Culture lol
Through a tiktok influencer telling you, for instance. That is how I first learned about veganism at 18, Freelee the Banana Girl telling me I can be thin, fit, and healthy like her if I just ate a case of bananas a day.

Finding a vegan restaurant online that’s not even in delivery distance to your home is equivalent to not finding one at all.
