Among decided and leaning voters, the BC Conservatives lead the BC NDP by just under 8 points, 44.7% to 37.2% with the Green at 11.2%, One BC at 5.7% and Centre BC Party at 1.1% rounding out the field.
Looks like malpractice.

Im probably in the minority here but will be voting Con due to the promised tax hikes.
Sorry, NDP. I voted for you last time. You cant just bankrupt the province, threaten income tax hikes, PST inclusions, and not expect normal left-leaners to say anything.
Conservatives have shown themselves incredibly poor fiscal stewards across Canada. When they say they run government like a business, it is more like in a “make numbers look rosy this quarter, next quarter is someone else’s problem” way, as opposed to a business that intends to last into the long term. My biggest concern is that the province’s assets will be sold off by the BC Cons to pretend the budget hole is filled in whatever year they feel like they need to pretend they are fiscally responsible.
As much as it pains me to be a single issue voter I have to vote conservative, every other party has an issue with firearms and intends to criminalize me for something I purchased legally and only got to use once before being turned into a safe-queen.
Shitty because I share quite a lot of liberal values, I just cant justify voting for a party that for the last 6 years has lied to Canadians claiming folks who legally own firearms are the cause to the increase in firearm related crime.
Hell not to mention our piss poor self defence laws.
Are you referring to the Firearm Violence Prevention Act? AFAICT the only way any legal and responsible gun owner would become a criminal under this legislation is if they’re bringing an emotional support gun to school/church/daycare.
Regardless do you care to elaborate?
I do have concerns about governments disarming the populace. At the same time I like living in a society where lethal force isn’t omnipresent.
I’m referring to the “Assault Style Compensation Program” or what most of us call the confiscation program.
This started after the 2020 Nova Scotia mass shooting involving an individual who murdered 2 police officers, dressed up as an aforementioned officer, and went on a mass killing spree murdering a total of 22 individuals.
Justin Trudeau a month after this incident prohibited 1500 makes and models of firearms and any variants of the firearms via Order In Council, so this did not go through Parliament or the House of Commons, ultimately the prohibitions would’ve not at all prevented the mass shooting In NS whatsoever as the perpetrator obtained their firearms illegally to begin with.
Now that we’re 6 years into this prohibition, up to 2400 makes and models (including all variants) of firearms are now prohibited and with a public safety minister who was caught on a open mic disavowing the program claiming that he did not believe it was an effective public safety measure but kept chugging along as it was a promise Mark Carney made in his election campaign.
The firearms types that were prohibited also include the .22Lr variants, if you don’t know what a .22Lr is refer to the image below it’s the top row 12th from the left, essentially a caliber you use to teach beginners on firearm handling and safety (or plinking pop cans out in the wilderness).
Cutting this off here as it’s already a long comment, I moderate /c/ca_firearms_rights@lemmy.halstead.host if you want more information regarding firearm ownership in Canada shoot me a dm! (pun intended)
I appreci te the fact that you’re around in this space. As a non gun owner and a bare understander, wouldn’t I want a good non-AR15 looking long gun anyway? Would that qualify as assault-style rifle?
Genuinely it is personal preference, some folks like their guns to have wood stocks and forends whereas others prefer polymer and or aluminium/steel, most wood stocks and forends don’t include MLOK slots or Picatinny rails for accessory mounting so sometimes polymer/aluminium/steel is your only choice.
It’s also worth mentioning upkeep on Wood, Steel and Aluminium matters to prevent rust and or mold/rot, the overall weight of the firearm also plays a big role in peoples decision making.
It’s also a good reminder that firearms, ammunition and accessories are certainly not cheap, most people after getting their PAL usually purchase a safe or locker which can range from $200-5000, my Mossberg 590A1 pump-action shotgun costed me close to 2k (CAD) a couple years ago, a single box of 20pc 2-3/4” '00 Buckshot (Double Wad Buckshot) nearly $30-40 depending on the brand and a decent flashlight and mount was another $200. Everyone has a budget is essentially where i am getting at.
Politically speaking on the other hand, folks are worried to purchase new firearms, while the Firearms Reference Table isn’t a legal document the RCMP treats it as it is and has suddenly reclassified certain Non-Restricted firearms as Prohibited (Direct YT Link) without giving firearms owners any notice.
I honestly can’t tell you, an “Assault Style Firearm” still has no defintion and given that these bans have been all over the place ranging from single-shot rifles to Hot-Pink GSG 16’s nobody knows when this will truly get defined.
That Ruger does not look like “assault style firearm” to my ignorant ass.
You can’t help people with capitalism, you’ll always be at the mercy of the capitalists and end up hurting the workers.
It’s fun to envision the hokey reason the cons will dream up to reduce services for the normal people. Looks like it’s their old standby: “taxes too high” and “gov too big”.
Yeah. Let’s all be Alberta, when we could be Sweden or Denmark.
I was interested in this comparison so I did a small amount of research on total cost of living in Vancouver vs Stockholm Sweden for a high earner like a doctor, lawyer @$330k CAD with a modest 3 bedroom home (townhouse) along with the proposed NDP tax increases. This is the conclusion. High earners under the proposed system in Vancouver get the high taxes of Sweden with the high cost of living of right wing capitalism:
