I really want to buy the frame, but my old index just keeps going strong. Sold CS skins to buy it back when it was originally released and it was totally worth it.
The performance on linux was unstable when I switched my desktop to linux only a couple of years ago, so i shelved it for a year, but now the performance is absolutely incredible and even more stable than it used to be on Windows. Love the linux VR community and what they have managed to build.
Ok so it’s just hardware sales and they’ll still support it. That’s good.
How does the new price compare to the frame? Their hardware is not supposed here officially so can’t even see the prices but is it worth getting one now? Would it be a good cheaper alternative?
It costs 685.60 € with the controllers but without the base stations. They are not included and aren’t offered.
The cheapest way to VR is probably a used Quest you never let on the internet.
I thought you can’t even use those without an account. Is that not the case?
Not sure about the newer ones, but I’ve got a Quest 1 that is now unsupported and I can use that without an account. Even standalone with free games.
But you can also root the Quest 2 and 3 to use them completely without any ties to Meta.
Are you using it on Linux? If so, how is the compatibility?
Been a while. My daughter’s been playing a lot with it standalone.
The Quest 1 isn’t supported by Steam Link so the only way for PCVR is ALVR as far as I know. Back then it was pretty involved to set up but did work nicely. I think by now it should be easier.
