Is it just me, or do they only have the headset, replacement left controller, and replacement tether available? You can’t buy the entire kit?

They ran out of them. The index hasn’t been produced for almost a year now, and first they ran out of spare lighthouses (though HTC still sells compatible ones) and now it seems they ran out of the full kits and put all the rest to a clearance sale.

Shit, my vaccum cleaner has pulled a lighthouse off the shelf few weeks ago and I did not check whether it’s working…

Not cheap, though. 1.0 lighthouses are $100. The 2.0 model is $230. Each. You’re probably better off buying a used Index kit if you can find one.

20% blowout sale honestly is making me consider going index lol. But I could never justify having to mount the lighthouses

I set up 1.0 base stations once in 2016 when I got the OG HTC Vive and never took them down (except that one time when I had open it up to glue a lens back in). Now I shelved the Index and left them there for the time being.

I wonder what will happen to the lighthouses. They are relied on by a lot of VR stuff. Is HTC going to make them? This could be awful news for the space if nobody is going to manufacture them

HTC Vive have took over, for now at least.
