Define freedom
What is his? Also my bad, freedom in itself is an empty concept, it is more appropriate to talk about the freedom of something. Like the freedom to be GAY! Depenalized in 1920,it could send you to the goulag in 1934. Some freedom of artistic creation like rock and roll (yeah the USA used as a strong soft power, I know). At least he had the freedom to have people removed from historical pictures, like Trotsky but I may be to much of an anarchist for you.
