The two men, 21-year-old Gavin Rivers Weisenburg and 20-year-old Tanner Christopher Thomas, have been accused of plotting to take the island by force, utilizing the homeless population of Washington DC, then killing all the men on the island and “using the women and children as sex slaves”, according to an announcement by the US attorney’s office of the eastern district of Texas on Thursday.

There is no way these two Special Ed dropouts were ever going to pull off even step one of this plan. Can you really be charged for creating really bad erotic fiction?

They were already training for it, that’s step one.

Also they were charged with producing child pornography.

That’s sort of my thought. Like should we prosecute someone for a thought.

If they had raised an army, or knocked over a national guard armory.

But ramblings from, I assume, drunks probably aren’t national security level threats.

Not to say that family and friends shouldn’t be concerned. It is concerning, but more in a those aren’t healthy thoughts way.

      I dunno

Yeah, it’s seems like mental health intervention might be more appropriate than law enforcement, but this is an authoritarian government, and when you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Agreed it appears sounds like they didn’t have all their ducks in a row. But the difference between fanfic and a plan is taking action.

If you write guro, that’s on you. If you discuss a plan over text and go buy the tools, that’s a crime.
