The other day I randomly thought “hey, Beverly Hills Cop was a thing, they made 3 of them like 30 years ago. Why wasn’t it dug out of it’s grave and revived yet?”. Then I checked and turns out it was. They made a new one in 2024. Fuckers will not skip any one of them.
Malcolm in the Middle is coming back, so is Scrubs.
Literally nothing is sacred; not that I really cared about those shows to begin with, but it’s just gross how blatant everything is lately, like people legitimately do not care in the slightest.
How shitty people are, how expensive everything is, how creatively bankrupt everyone is…
Originally most of them were just getting the cast back together to talk about the show. The TV show Friends did a version of this a few years ago.
We also got the film or TV movie that revisited the cast and story, usually a few years after the show ended. The TV show Psych did a handful of these.
And of course more recently, as you noted, we’ve started to get the new seasons version. King of the Hill would be a good recent example of this format.
It’s fun to revisit the worlds these shows created. Some suck. Some are great. Some are just sorta in the middle.
