It’s shaped like a goose, and next to Goose Pond Road.
Back in 1900 Square Pond was considerably larger than it is today and its shape was different. However, a mill company dammed the streams leading into it reducing its volume greatly. Prior to this it was known as Crystal Lake. Due to over development, the lake is dying from lack of oxygen.
The Square Pond is named as such because that shape fits in the square hole
