Don’t mind the rest of the lower left, but I’m there mainly for the antifascist bit.

To preface, it was a joke and I meant no disrespect.

It’s an expression that relates to centrists on the political compass; the people that have no strong ideology that pull them too far into the quadrants.

The joke is that while the four quads are warring that they’ll host the barbecue like nothing is going on. Just grilling for the neighborhood.

Very similar to most Americans today - the world is burning but many just keep living as though it’s all cocktail parties and weekends in Vail.

I’m about the far left side of yellow.

I want universal health care(even though I’m fairly healthy) and universal childcare( despite me not having children). But I also want an armed proletariat.

The Roman Empire may be very fascinating from a historical perspective, but let’s be realistic, most of the people at the top there were absolutely terrible, tyrannical, often murderous bastards witha completely self-centered sense of morality.

Bold of anyone in this day and age thinking they would be anything but a peasant in Rome

          Some things never change

Weeell… If you actually look at some of the things the elites back then did and how the place was run, it was pretty damn extreme, even compared to today’s Trump era. Just two examples out of many to look up would names like Crassus or Caligula. As far-fetched as it may seem looking at just the modern world, I actually would argue that the sheer degree of general bastardry has come down a lot since then.

That may be the case, but no empire in the ancient world could possibly compare to the sheer scale of bastardry that takes place in the modern world. The US empire causes more suffering in a day than the Roman empire did in its entire history.

Yeah that’s fair, the west is only one part of the world though. Plenty of mad stuff happening elsewhere!

Top left is a flag of the USSR

Top right is the symbol of the Roman senate

Bottom left is an anarchist/queer/antifascist movement

Bottom right is the Gadsen flag, often associated with right libertarians

Because the Rattlesnake had a long history as a political symbol for the unity of the thirteen colonies and was meant to serve as an example of the revolutionary ideals.

Gadsen himself was a staunch supporter of John Adams (though he was, paradoxically an enthusiastic eslavist) and he spent time in prison during the war as he couldn’t give his word to a “false system”.

Sadly, the right has been misappropriating revolutionary symbols and that’s what I meant as unfair.

Some of these look familiar but I have no idea what any of these are.

Are you being serious right now?
