I love sidescrolling beat’em ups like Streets of Rage and Final Fight. I feel that very often new games in the genre are hard to discover, unless they have a big license like Marvel attached to them. Do you know of any good new games in the genre that came out this year? Indietitles and hidden gems are always appreciated.

Absolum made me beat em up pilled. I crave post game. I’m playing Code of Princess and Streets of Rage 4 now to cope.

You want Absolum. It’s made by the same people who made SoR4, and it is excellent.
I don’t know of any that came out this year (exception being cosmic invasion, which I’m sure you’re aware of).
The last few that I played were River City Girls, Scott Pilgrim, Streets of rage 4, and mother Russia bleeds.
Oh, and Shredder’s revenge, of course 😁
Know and played and loved all of those, but good thing you’ve listed them here. Never really finished Mother Russia Bleeds, so that might be worth another go. Thanks for reminding me.
Nice! MRB is definitely worth a replay! I actually replayed it recently and beat it this time. Younger me was trying to play it on hard mode like a psychopath… Lol
