An interdisciplinary research team from Leipzig has discovered strong evidence of a Black Death mass grave near the deserted medieval village of Neuses, outside Erfurt (Germany). It represents the first systematically identified burial site associated with plague burials in Europe.
Bad news: the plague was never fully eradicated and there are still like a thousand reported cases every year (mostly in Madagascar I think).
My mom had it for years before they finally figured out what it was. It didn’t present with the bubos and they were just mystified.
Great news: you can survive for years with it on other meds and just being clean. It’s no fun but you don’t die.
