For penis havers it’s called paternity leave.

ETA: Though I have always felt this to be pointlessly gendered. Everybody should get parental leave regardless.

We had tons of help and the easiest baby ever, and I think I managed to pull off two 15-minute gaming sessions in the 4 weeks I had saved up.

Also: company established 3 months paternity leave about 6 months after I came back to work. I’ve never identified more with the boomers who oppose student loan forgiveness out of jealousy.

I played Forager a lot when my kid was new. I enjoyed the fairly engaging gameplay and the newborn liked all the colors, shapes and sounds.

I also sympathize with the latter half of your post. I was only promised a small amount of paternity leave but, very shortly before my kid was born, my company was purchased by another company that only offered paternity leave to employees who had been there for more than a year. At the time I had been there nine months (I have now been there seven years). I was pissed. Fortunately my direct manager was understanding and gave me a reduced workload for a while.

Trans people exist. More importantly, whatever one calls taking leave of work to support a partner after they’ve given birth, it’s not going to be a holiday. Things like paternity leave exist because of how much work newborns can be.
