Insomniac’s Wolverine will likely not come out on PC.

If that murmurs turn out to be true, i’m out of Sony first party Games.
I stay at PC and if Sony wants my money for their first Party Games they need to release them on PC as well.Just emulate them for free if you want to play them, pretty dumb move on Sony’s part.
Is performant ps5 emulation a thing yet? Unless you mean “in 10 years” in which case I agree
No idea I had been buying their games on PC, but I sincerely doubt it will take 10 years if it isn’t already a thing.
You seem overly confident in the rate at which performant emulation occurs. We’re still struggling to make good Xbox 360 emulators.
The xbox and especially ps3 used some fuck ass architectures that are hard to emulate. But the ps4 and xbone are just x86 PCs with AMD CPUs and Radeon GPUs. PS4 emulation has probably made more progress than ps3 in the last few years.
I’m curious how much will carry over to ps5 emulation since they’re basically the same thing.
Time will tell.
Time is already telling. The PS4 is 13 years old and only a very small portion of the catalog can be successfully emulated.
As the consoles become more advanced, emulation takes exponentially more effort.
When the PS4 has a good emulation story you can start "time will tell"ing about the PS5.
Sony doesn’t want my money? Okay lol.
Admittedly I wasn’t buying Sony PC releases new, (Because backlog) but I still have like 5ish of them and I can see the number of reviews they get on Steam so I know they’re making a good chunk of change well before my patient ass.
I mean with MSFT abandoning Xbox as a hardware platform why wouldn’t they? Especially if Valve becomes their main competition in the future.
Valve scale is negligible at least for now. They are very far from being a real competitor.
What makes you say that?
Valve’s Steam Deck is produced on a small scale and is only sold directly by Valve and their global sales numbers are lower compared to even even this years sales numbers of other consoles, which is considered to be the worst year for XBOX ever.
On top of that, new Steam Machine “console” will be sold as a PC and at PC pricing without them subsidizing raw hardware cost. It’s simply unsustainable.
Sure. But I don’t see any other company that could even have an interest in the console market.
It’s a market with a well defined celling. It always competes against raw hardware cost and you can only subsidize it for so long before you run out money or shareholder confidence.
I don’t think the new high console prices will be sustainable business model going forward.
