What i find most interesting is that the modern style truck that people are buying are actually so awful to use for real work. The increased bed height makes it harder to hand load to the point that they added integrated stairs in the door which doesnt help at all because youre still climbing wasting energy. When getting tools out of the back seat if your not 7 feet tall you cant reach in without physically climbing in. They kinda just suck in comparison to the old. When i see trucks like the one below i genuinely think that person is using it as intended probably likes that model more than something theyd buy new. My brain cant help but comment “thats a real truck with a real contributer to society inside”

  • I was recently having a discussion with my girlfriend on why i feel this exact way. I was having alot of trouble putting into words what about it is so off putting to me. she accused me of kink shaming them, and I dont disagree with that assessment. But i was struggling to express WHY? I find the whole culture surrounding it disgusting. Weirdly it has nothing to do with the obvious infections and diseases associated with casual sex, and obviously people can do whatever they want in the privacy of their own homes. I generally take no issue with anything ‘odd’ in the bedroom. Theres just something off about the culture as a whole that sounds all the alarm bells in my brain.

Maybe someone can put into words what this feeling is and where its coming from?

Any place asking me to scan a QR for a menu, or need an app for parking probably wasnt worth it to begin with. Yes practicing privacy is not going to “feel” good thats exactly what they want. Just keep fighting back where you can, Make it as unlikely as possible for them to get what they want.

Every person In this comment section has leaks in their system. Unless they are some data security expert, theres simply no way to get by without being “exposed” at some point.

Keep up the good fight. Its worth it. Your eyes and your data are the new currency. Keep their hands off it.

Edit: there is alot of good info in this comment section people should upvote & downvote this post to balance it into being “contraversial” to get more eyes on it. Simply downvoting someone with a “bad take” Is imo unproductive.

  • Reddit died imo when they limited API calls for app developers who made incredible 3rd party apps for the platform. Maybe theyve since fixed it, I wouldnt know since I felt cheated having supported baconreader and boost for their hard work in making the reddit exerience feel so premium. I tried the official reddit app and It was buggy garbage at the time. So IMO they pushed away a good chunk of their userbase even before the whole politicapocolypse, bann waves, community removals, etc.

While lemmy is not a perfect replacement in terms of numbers. I feel that every upvote and comment has more meaning here. People here are generally more productive and insightful. It makes me wonder how much bot traffic reddit had prior to the changes. Selfishly I kind of hope lemmy stays where it is in terms of popularity. You all seem generally really cool and It would be hard to find the real ones In the sea of reddit-esque nonsense.

  • I find it very interesting that as a windows user, for years learning the OS was this collaborative effort for me and the community at large. Wed google everything, find obscure forums with equally obscure sollutions, and then eventually youtube tutorials. It was always a community educatiing themselves further in infinite directions.

Why does it seem like people dont want this with linux? I get that it might be too slow for some people and they just need something to “work”. I see so many people on various comment sections saying “yeah i tried it had issues and switched back” basically the same experience that the video portrayed. Why was that same person able to suffer through windows for 25+years but this is just “too much”.

I personally feel that most of the linux community has been a breath of fresh air. I feel stupid sure, but at the same time its rewarding to communicate with others and find a solution.

Even some people within the linux community feel this way, telling users to simply read the man page or the official forums to find solutions rather than teach them to use the man pages and arch wiki for example. Its honestly baffling to me on both ends.

Open question to all: what is your level of profiency? How do you learn about linux? Do you think there is a problem or is it a loud minority of users?
