From a non techical user perspective.
I used unmodified GNOME 40 and 49 for a week. There were few changes, I could absolutely see myself using the older version and not missing much.
In my opinion GNOME 4X is as good as linux DEs get. I would like to see some popular extensions getting official support and native dynamic tiling, but besides that it’s hard to see room for improvement.
Removing X11 is a big deal, but most users won’t see it as such.
Fuck it. I’m no longer responding to this thread. If you can’t understand that dehumanizing them and attacking their ideals is bad (politically bad) I don’t have anything else to say.
We need to reason with them, not fight. Everyone believes what they’re doing is good, if you attack that, you’re the bad one and they won’t listen to you anymore.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t protect trans rights or anything like that. I’m just saying that dehumanizing around 30% of the country is a bad idea and is completely counterproductive.
They don’t think like that. You can’t fight radicalization with radicalization.
Why shouldn’t conservatives claim that we, liberals, are dehumanizing ourselves by supporting trans rights for example? Why?
In fact, most Americans didn’t like what was in Epstein files and Trump support fell substantially following the release of them.
Oh yeah, dehumanizing political enemies, it can’t go wrong

Are you crazy? Over 600 days?
NOOOOOO NOOOOO NOOOOOOOO
How many people were using X11 on GNOME?
Yes, it’s technically a huge change, but regular user won’t see a difference
I must check it out, thanks
I don’t think they give it that information in system prompt and models don’t know who they are
Honestly, not much changed since GNOME 40.
Is it a bad thing? No
Do I want more changes? Also no
The only thing missing from GNOME for me is proper dynamic tiling. I’m trying Forge extension, but it feels clunky
I’m curious what model are they using. Some weak GPT? Gemini Flash Lite?
International politics ain’t that easy.
Many people in Europe still admire Trump. IIRC Trump has higher support in the EU, than in the US.
In my country (Poland) directly fighting against the US is political suicide.
Edit: I were wrong, Trump approval rate in the EU is around 20%, compared to 30-40% in the US.
Still, international politics isn’t quite as easy as people make it to be.
