they are so stingy they won’t even pay anyone to keep watch of their shit
But you’re cool with all the robot advancements in China who are taking labor jobs?
I cast: Strawman!
It’s not effective at all.
where are you getting this from? did china hurt you?
I’m asking you specifically to compare your opinion of the recent robot production in China to this. Robots doing people’s jobs in manual labor.
I had a conversation with Yogthos about this and he was 1000% in favor of robots and AI taking over the jobs of humans. And since he’s a very very vocal member of your community, I’m curious how… aligned… all of you are.
i don’t get why we need to be “aligned” on this, but i will give you my unironic good faith 2 cents:
technology itself is not inherently good or evil, it’s subject to the power structure that controls it. eg. how computing itself is used for exploitation distraction and surveillance by late stage capitalism but it’s actually a great tool when used for good.
will china use their dancing robots to toss real humans aside for cheaper labor, or will they be used to free them up for enjoying life?
i’m unsure how things are playing out from their side yet but they do have better incentive structures, and if we could explore and legislate robots and ai on our terms instead of some group of sadistic pedophile’s, i can see us building nice things with them and using it’s resource requirements wisely to make ourselves happier.
if not then, well, i guess we are fucked in the cyberpunk dystopia.
Do you think that’s the direction the world will go?
it’s definitely not the direction it’s going right now. i can only guess if we can change it before climate apocalypse or nuclear winter becomes inevitable.
i know for certain the next decade or two are gonna be interesting in a “oh fuck fuck fuck” kind of way for a variety of reasons.
Where did they say that?
For operators managing multimillion-dollar server farms, the economics are compelling: a single human guard can cost around $150,000 per year, factoring in benefits and shifts. Robots, by contrast, draw power rather than paychecks.
They also require maintenance and have a 30% duty cycle.
“Machines never need a rest, get sick or take a break”
Confidently said by someone who has never worked in a factory.
“Machines never need rest, get sick, or take a break. And my reference of machines is the phone that I replace every 6 months for the newer model.”
We need emp guns now more than ever, clearly
What kind of systems are these machines supposed to be carrying?
AI, I am sure.
They need to build more data centers to control the robots that guard the data centers.
It’s the loophole.
"Just one more ultra-hyper-mega-super-sophisticated datacenter! One more! Then everything will be fine. Perfect!”
Okay, that was on me.
What kind of hardware systems will these robots carry? Will those be weaponized or just equipped with surveillance and alarm suites?
We all know those “cute” Boston Dynamics robots are going to be murdering people eventually, let’s face it.
Let’s just nip this in the bud right now. There is nothing dog about these rattle droids.
No one is going to hesitate to blast a robot, even an actual dog would have a better chance against a determined attacker.
We really are trying to Horizon Zero Dawn ourselves, huh?
More like Arc Raiders but ya
It’s here guys! Spot used for hostile purposes
