ADHD protip: commit to only setting up the digital workspace as soon as you get the assignment. Set up a cloud storage folder with google drive or one drive or whatever you use with:

    • a copy of the assignment outline
    • an empty document in the paper format, complete with title and reference pages
    • a folder for reference PDFs or diagrams or quotes or whatever

Not only have I written numerous fabulously scoring assignments on my phone while taking horrifying IBS shits but also–

–one time I set this up for a group project and sent the folder out to the members. A few days later I logged in and one of the other members who also had ADHD had basically completed the entire assignment. Cannot say whether she was shitting while writing it but it’s certainly not impossible. A day after that another group member edited it and it was ready for submission five days ahead of schedule.

The neurochemistry isn’t actually averse to work, you just gotta catch it at the right angle.

Imagine being so phone-brained that you do “fun” things on your phone while sitting in front of your laptop at a desk. Doomscroll on the big screen!

Big screen is playing reruns of Comfort Show™ while medium screen is set up for the Task and small screen is occupied stimulating the dopamine gland.

Most people don’t even know what workspaces is. I know and never got into the habbit of using them.

I just Super into overview and switch windows. That’s as workspacy as imma get. Sometimes I’ll get fancy and tile browser tabs with pdfs and writing tho. Still always in one workspace.

I have no object permanence when it comes to my desktop, and I forget something exists when I don’t see it. So I choose to have tiled windows instead.

I try to avoid any kind of scroll-type behavior on my desktop. Desktop is for actual work, or hobbies that require actual focus and labor.

If I infect the big screen with mindless content consumption, I’ll ruin the quarantine.

Did you forbid yourself to do anything else on the laptop until you are done with the task? (If I’d also ban myself from using my phone or TV, I’d start reading books)

I have 10 occupied workspaces at any given time. You can also use different browser profiles for work/school and fun!

    Literally me frfr

Like everythings the same… the hoodie the posture the bitter acknowledgement of the never ending horror of a society staring at it’s rapidly approaching, unnavoidable death, the printed notes. I have a cup of tea tho

My second round of college has been so much easier when I trick myself into doing a little work every day instead of all of it at once right before it’s due. Downside is no day off, upside is better grades and less anxiety.
