Do they all want to go to the same place?

And, cannot the bats fly? Surely there could be far many more.

Speaking of flying, lets just have spaceships for everybody.

Its awful to go on public transport.

People have cars for the same reason people like their own apartment or their own house. Other people are awful to be around. They will have no problem making loud noises, caughing at you, smelling bad… People dont care, at all.

People actually pay very much to own a car, and why do they do that? Because public transport is a horrible experience. Im addition to the things above, it takes you at least 2-3 times as long to get anywhere using public transport compared to a car.

I really hate it, no joke. Cant stand using it for more than maybe once per month if I have to.

Driving requires you to be constantly alert, and if you screw up or don’t react fast enough, you can straight up die because of it. On a bus, you can be on your phone, read a book, take a nap, whatever. Driving is a much worse experience and even if public transit takes more time, that’s time that can be used doing things. That’s before factoring the cost (the car itself, gas, insurance), the environmental impact, parking, etc.

I guess that must be why living in Vienna gives you such a terribly low quality of life, as more trips are done by PT than by car and around half the households don’t even own a car (most of them could easily afford one), compared to for example Fake London in Canada.

Travelling in a city designed for PT doesn’t take any longer than travelling by car in a city designed for cars. How? Because what cars are faster, they need more space, increasing necessary distances, and at the end leading to no improvement in travel times.

I dont live in Vienna. There are actually other countries in the world and life is quite different depending on where you live. Thats why people dont have just one opinion about these things.

Lemmy is funny for downvoting an opinion about liking cars. :) But I know why. Its because many people here want others to like what they like. And its very annoying when they like things like driving, since its bad for the environment. And they wish everyone would take the bus.

That is a bit rich from someone who did not start the comment by saying, “I find public transport awful” but as a general truth “Its awful to go on public transport.”

Same goes for your line about how people spend a fortune, just to avoid PT, when in fact, many don’t spend a fortune on cars when they happen to live in places where PT is decent and useful. Almost as if not so much the inherent general awfulness of PT makes people choose going by car but when PT is in that specific place just not good, people do so.

As a general rule, you should always assume people write their personal opinions here since its not a scientific paper you are reading. I would never assume that you speak for the world when you write a comment here.

    And now the traffic report:

“I’m over Ventura Blvd., and all the vampires walking in the Valley are heading west.”

Does it need to be a full-size bat, or can it be one of those mini replica bats? I bet you could fit at least twice as many of those bats.
