So a bus is more space efficient than pedestrians?
Often times, yes. Because sitting/standing requires less space than walking and that makes up for the extra space of the bus.
I guess walking is like humans being in a gas state, and riding a bus is humans arranging themselves into a solid. But idk what liquid humans would be lol
Love this
In the US, only 33 cars for 50 people is optimistic
Do they all want to go to the same place?
And, cannot the bats fly? Surely there could be far many more.
Speaking of flying, lets just have spaceships for everybody.
really? only 150 bats? are these fruit bats or fat american vampire bats. i would like to speak to mathematic’s manager please.
That’s 150 thousand bats (i am not the mathematics manager though - she was probably hit by that bus)
are these american thousands or are these weird european thousands with extra zeroes like their weird millions and billions tho. they have been getting sneaky beaky with their numbers, the way they count things all discrete like.
SNEAKY.

BEAKY.
The 50 pedestrians vs 50 people in a bus is messing with my brain.
50 pedestrians the way they prefer it. A bus with 50 people on board, where everyone is in each other’s personal space.
Yeah they must really be crammed in there.
Double decker?
that’s gonna be one hell of a smush in the cage match
Yeah, fuck busses. Bats are way more eco friendly.
you can make them eat other bugs too it’s so eco friendly
Its awful to go on public transport.
People have cars for the same reason people like their own apartment or their own house. Other people are awful to be around. They will have no problem making loud noises, caughing at you, smelling bad… People dont care, at all.
People actually pay very much to own a car, and why do they do that? Because public transport is a horrible experience. Im addition to the things above, it takes you at least 2-3 times as long to get anywhere using public transport compared to a car.
I really hate it, no joke. Cant stand using it for more than maybe once per month if I have to.
What if…WHAT IF public transport is funded and improved upon?
It will have other people.
Driving requires you to be constantly alert, and if you screw up or don’t react fast enough, you can straight up die because of it. On a bus, you can be on your phone, read a book, take a nap, whatever. Driving is a much worse experience and even if public transit takes more time, that’s time that can be used doing things. That’s before factoring the cost (the car itself, gas, insurance), the environmental impact, parking, etc.
Sounds like you like the bus, thats great. Good for you.
I guess that must be why living in Vienna gives you such a terribly low quality of life, as more trips are done by PT than by car and around half the households don’t even own a car (most of them could easily afford one), compared to for example Fake London in Canada.
Travelling in a city designed for PT doesn’t take any longer than travelling by car in a city designed for cars. How? Because what cars are faster, they need more space, increasing necessary distances, and at the end leading to no improvement in travel times.
I dont live in Vienna. There are actually other countries in the world and life is quite different depending on where you live. Thats why people dont have just one opinion about these things.
Lemmy is funny for downvoting an opinion about liking cars. :) But I know why. Its because many people here want others to like what they like. And its very annoying when they like things like driving, since its bad for the environment. And they wish everyone would take the bus.
That is a bit rich from someone who did not start the comment by saying, “I find public transport awful” but as a general truth “Its awful to go on public transport.”
Same goes for your line about how people spend a fortune, just to avoid PT, when in fact, many don’t spend a fortune on cars when they happen to live in places where PT is decent and useful. Almost as if not so much the inherent general awfulness of PT makes people choose going by car but when PT is in that specific place just not good, people do so.
As a general rule, you should always assume people write their personal opinions here since its not a scientific paper you are reading. I would never assume that you speak for the world when you write a comment here.
But you are assuming the downvote is due to people wanting everyone to have the same opinion, not because you generally called PT as awful, no qualification of any kind. Maybe next time communicate in a clearer fashion.
Naah im good with having opinions. You should try it. Thats what these things are for actually. You know, comments? Thats their purpose.
PT is awful, yes.
smelling bad
look who thinks their shit don’t smell
Vampire propaganda.
And now the traffic report:
“I’m over Ventura Blvd., and all the vampires walking in the Valley are heading west.”
It’s more efficient to stack pedestrians on top of each other.
I have a better question - why isn’t this posted in the !bats@lemmy.world community? We would love it here. Stealing and crossposting now.

I simply wasn’t aware of the community, I’ll remember it next time
It’s definitely a much smaller community than lemmyshitpost, but we love anything bat-related!
Does it need to be a full-size bat, or can it be one of those mini replica bats? I bet you could fit at least twice as many of those bats.
Where do I invest?
Squeak at the sky after dark and some guys will show up.
