Well hello again everybody! This has been a wonderful past couple of days. I want to give a huge thank you to everybody who participated in my Under New Management post from Thursday. There was a lot of great feedback, and it will go a long way to helping me better understand all of your wants and needs for this community. Yay!
Yes, this will be wordy. Read it anyway. I will try to be concise.
I spent the entirety of Thursday afternoon and evening working through the over 600 reports that existed for the community. There are still a little less than 200 more left to work through. To be fully transparent, I was given the option of simply mass clearing all of the reports so that I could start with a clean slate. Halfway through, it was very tempting to take the powers-that-be (PtB) up on their generous offer. 😅 But, I wanted to see the reports and see what was being reported (and also by whom). Again, this is my way of learning about this community and its members.
The first thing I want to say is this: for the time being, I have decided that @beep@piefed.world is allowed to stay – with conditions. I have reached out privately to them about their past behavior, and they conveyed that they will respect the rules going forward. I have conveyed back to them that their continued use of the community is contingent on their ability to not break the rules going forward (especially with the alteration of comics). With this said, I fully expect this to ruffle quite a few of those proverbial feathers. But, for better or for worse, the decision is made. Please do not report their posts/comments merely because of who they are. If you do report them for anything, do it because it actually breaks the rules (be sure to be specific about what rules).
With this out of the way, I also want to take a moment to welcome the following people to our moderation team:

Let’s be sure that they get the same in return. Everyone made it a strong point that we are all adults here, so let’s be sure to act like it.

I leave it to the mods usually. But you apparently act on their reports no questions asked and see no reason to remove their comments.

I’m always happy to listen to feedback, and change my behaviour when I’m wrong.
I will not be removing comments just because they have been reported, or just because I disagree with them. I will only be removing comments that explicitly break the rules as listed on the sidebar. You are welcome to report any comment you believe should be removed. There is no penalty for incorrectly reporting something if it is done in good faith (i.e. don’t report everything just because I said no penalty).
While not explicitly against rule 1 (Be nice), I believe “zionist rats” could have been phrased as “zionists” or “zionist people” while still making the same point.

I did not say that, and I did not imply it either. I was telling you what you can do to improve your interactions with this community and it’s mods.
I was given moderator privileges a few hours ago. I have not yet seen those comments, and had nothing to do with them.
I suggest taking some time away from this to clear your head before making further comments. It’s hard to argue in good faith while angry.
That other ‘mod’ if you can him that has seen the comments and decided all of that was OK, while ALL of mine got removed.
I will indeed leave it at that since I’m justifiably disgusted.
If you want censorship and pro-genocider biased moderation then Reddit or X already exist.

Next time, use the report button. This behavior WILL get you banned. I’ll look into your history to see if I can find this person, but if you don’t start treating people like humans, I will always consider the comment a break of Rule 1.

The problem is beyond just calling people fascists, you threaten them, use terrible language and treat people poorly in general.

There have been at least three different mods who have responded to you. Which one are you calling biased.
More importantly (from the standpoint of moderation tools being pretty elementary to non-existent here on Lemmy), can you link to the individual comments?
My best guess is that the user who you spoke to reported your comments which is why they were all removed.
But with a backlog of over 300 reports when the mods are essentially volunteers, they can’t read the entirety of every conversation in order to find fault with comments that weren’t reported.
So, if the comments were bad enough that you feel they should be removed, please report them.
And stop with the all caps and the “Zionist” stuff. I don’t like genocide and don’t agree with Israel on most things but it’s hard to take you seriously when you sound like you’re raving.

One says there’s nothing wrong with it, the other just couldn’t find the 10 seconds to do it. They do have plenty of time to whitewash themselves and make excuses to me tho.

Personally only removed comments that vehemently broke the rules, the most obvious rule broken was rule 1. We got through the mod log and likely wont be removing any old posts or comments at this point.
2 of the comments removed were for calling out someone being pro Palestinian genocide and explaining why it was bad what was happening in Gaza. Were those ones you removed cause not good look for who every removed them and not the cause
In the modlog you sent, of the 4 shown that I removed: one had uncensored gore of animals without NSFW tag (A documentary, but nonetheless that needs to be tagged.), one person losing their mind over beep, another telling beep to harm themselves, and another that was charged and another that was mean spirited, and I don’t understand the word, so I played on the safe side.
Edit: The modlog kept going, with more of my stuff in there, but most of these speak for themselves I think.
So one of them already got scrubbed from the mod log, which not a great look either.
Considering this is getting removed, saying what’s actually happening being considered speaking for itself can’t say anything good about the decisions. Of course it’s lemmy world so not at all surprising just disappointed

That might actually just be lemmy, every time I open the mod log I see different things. I’ll look into it as well. I wonder if they disappear when they are undone? Still new to Lemmy mod tools.
You know this is what .world moderation is like. They’re the quiet subtle type of Zionism that prunes dissent and leaves up filth.
They’ll totally investigate it or something and after a few weeks do nothing. Maybe a vague promise to think about a change.
