Framework announced the Framework 13 Pro including full Linux support right from the beginning.

Some quick information about the Device:

  • will use Intel Core Ultra 300 (Panther-Lake)
  • updated Battery Design with (up to) 20h Battery life
  • custom designed Display Panel with Touch support (keeping the 3:2 aspect ratio)
  • LPCAMM2 for upgradable/replacable RAM without compromising on Speed/Low Power of LPDDR5X
  • milled Aluminium Unibody chassis
  • Full Linux support right from the start (including Firmware update via LVFS, Fingerprint Reader, etc.)
  • Haptic Touchpad
  • and all the repairability features Framework is known for

You can watch their YouTube Video for a quick summary:

I was looking for a new laptop to replace my old Lenovo Yoga 370 and initially disregarded the Framework 13 because of some downsides (low Battery Life, bad Camera, etc.) and was looking to go with one of the following devices:

  • HP Elitebook X g1a
  • the new Dell XPS 14
  • Asus Expertbook PM5 G2

or also a MacBook pro. I am using Linux since more then 10 years and never touched MacOS at all. So I was not sure if MacOS would work for me. But this announcement made it easy: It will be a Framework 13 Pro with Intel X7 358H!

All the CEO needed to say after funding that fascist was:

Oops, sorry. I didn’t check out that developer’s history before funding his project. It won’t happen again. I promise going forwards that we’ll google people’s names first before sending them any money.

They didn’t have to make a big deal about it, even a simple quickly forgotten post on their personal social media account would have been enough.

People still ask him about it, and he’ll talk about anything else.

But he won’t give a simple apology.

      His silence is deafening.

Better to just go for the EU version of framework without the fascism: https://novacustom.com/

Edit: Changed “All the CEO had to say” to “All the CEO needed to say” to avoid confusion.

Thanks for the heads up, I was trying to find if they’re still facist. I always felt bad seeing how much promotion framework laptops get after their lukewarm response, and now I can recommend an alternative.

Get off your high horse. The first sentence was ‘sorry’.

Find something real to get mad about.

Pretty sure you’ve misread. That was not a quote of what they said, it was a suggestion of what they should say.

Support or don’t support who you want.

How you and your friends here present your arguments and interact with the community appears more like chasing the high of outrage and drama farming than attempting to engage in a conversation on the topic.

Doing things like putting words into other people’s mouth, and then attacking the strawman of your own creation for example:

Not supporting fascists is self-righteous now?

There’s no topic to engage upon. There’s merely a fascist vendor trying to enter a community space from which they were already ejected.

There’s no topic to engage upon.

Everyone doesn’t know the things you know.

You are here, in a new post, making conclusory statements without backing them up. How do you expect other people to become aware of this thing that you think is so important if your (or whoever’s) first reaction is to attack people as if they disagree with you instead of explaining your argument?

It reads like drama farming and the toxic behaviors of the other people on ‘your side’ only adds to that impression.

Are they, though? I do think it is not right how their public stance is just “we want to be politically neutral”. But at the end of the day, when you look at who is actually receiving funding from them now, it looks like they are no longer funding the projects that the community has a problem with: https://frame.work/blog/framework-sponsorships

You are right, no sign of it listed. Odd, I’ve not heard of any resignation of the CEO.

I don’t think the CEO or anyone else was at fault, one of their teams picked people for the company to support, it was either before bad behaviour became apparent, or ignorant of it, then the community complaints and they fixed it

          What’s to complain about?
