Be me in 2019 on a flight somewhere between Texas & DC. My phone is most assuredly on airplane mode. I have an idea pop into my head and I want to text someone in Maryland about it, so out of curiosity I start texting them while I’m in airplane mode. We were chatting on Google Hangouts I think it’s an obsolete app now but the icon was like this " one set of quotation marks in green, if you remember that app. From my location in an airplane at maximum cruising altitude I was able to have a full chat conversation with someone hundreds of miles away on the ground while my phone was in airplane mode. 🤷🏼♀️ How that was possible will forever be a mystery to me.
