TLDR: Driver decided to test the capabilities of “wade mode,” based on the notoriously reliable testimony of the CEO. He was arrested after local authorities fished the car out.

It is better as scrap metal than on the road, unironically. The materials weren’t wasted when it went under they were wasted when they were made into a cybertruck.
